What a joke On January 16th, 2008 10:45 pm (UTC), (Anonymous) replied: Re: What The Fuck If you look closely or have been here long enough, all links go to the bands *themselves* Theres nothing wrong with promoting the bands you like. If there is, then tell your friend who referred you to never mention the band's name again without paying the band.... Same deal... He's just sharing the music he find good with his friends. If anything the bands are making out like bandits! FREE PROMOTION directing straight to their sites and (hopefully) thier pockets. besides, Who are you? Who cares what you think about what sepiachord presents to his friends? Whos paying you to put down The Fog? They are a good band and I, for one, am happy that Sepiachord chose them to present to people, like me, who like this kind of music. With any luck, The Fog may get a ton of hits on their myspace, who knows -- it may make them more popular and get the recognition they deserve. (and that goes for all the bands Sepiachord posts!) Thank goodness Sepiachord is here presenting this music! Without this blog, I would not know HALF the bands I listen to currently --AND I BOUGHT all the music from the bands I liked that had it available. So, tell us again, HOW is Sepiachord ripping bands off? Looks like he isnt making a dime to promote these bands and is doing it of his own good nature. Mind your own business, please, and allow those of us who like steampunk music to learn of new bands and enjoy what sepiachord does for us. Re: What The Fuck Yeah, what S/He said. LOL -- Im very glad that you enjoy Sepiachord. The Sepiachord Captain cares for this blog and myspace, chooses the songs of the day and does the record reviews. He is to thank for the stellar music choices. I'm only the Navigator, I do the web design, and the Fashion field guide. - Just wanted to pipe in with my opinion Edited at 2008-01-17 12:17 am (UTC) Re: What The Fuck >What The Fuck Hello! >got a message on myspace from someone saying their song was the song of >the day here so I thought I would check it out. I'm assuming that the message you received was from Aprilcot who's now working with The Fog People. She a great lady and the Fog People are a great band. >#1 Who in the fuck are you? We're just a group of people excited about a genre of music. We do this for free because we like music. We're no different or special than anybody else. >#2 Who in the fuck cares about your song of the day? Every day we change the song on our myspace profile, this is the Song of the Day. Every song we pick is already free for the listening on myspace, we're just drawing attention to it. It gives us a chance to share new/interesting bands with like minded folks. We post blogs and bulletins about it here and on myspace. Everything we post links back to the bands in question. (As you'll notice from our post here). Who cares? Well we've got a bunch of readers here and on myspace. Our website gets 70,000 to 120,000 hits a month. We constantly get emails and packages from bands (new and old favorites). So, those would be the people who care. We don't expect what we do to appeal to everyone. >#3 Do the musicians that you are using for your song of the day get paid >for their work or are you just ripping them off? Most bands have contacted *us* in one form or another. They like what we do and want to be apart of it, and want us to expose them to more listeners. We do not charge anything. (In fact it costs us money to host the website and takes a good bit of our time, but it's worth it). Bands that haven't heard of us before have always been very excited by what we're doing. We've never had a bad reaction from an artist. We've been told by artists that being Song of the Day gets them an extra 200-500 hits/listens a day. We wish it could be more. >What a joke This is entertainment, it's about enjoying music. Some of the songs we've posted are pretty funny... just scroll back an check them out. This isn't meant to be SERIOUS, we're here to have fun and explore music. If that's a joke do you, no problem. It makes us smile, too. This is April(cot) and I don't believe any of my friends would ever post something like this, but I guess they have. On behalf of Fog People and myself, I apologize for this undeserved abuse. If it were not for Sepiachord, my career as a singer/songwriter would be far less amusing and I would feel far less ambition to pursue it. Jordan, Jenn and the rest of the gang are so intensely focused on finding and promoting quality music in a big, unwieldy world of notes and chords... LIKE A GOOD ZINE IS SUPPOSED TO DO! Is Rolling Stone magazine exploiting an artist when they give a good album review? Is KEXP exploiting a band when they play a track over the air? By this post's rationale, the answer is yes to both. C'mon... don't be ridiculous. Sepiachord, you are fantastic. I love you. Thank you for exploiting the hell out of our band. You're welcome to do so, anytime... |
